AN CEANN COMHAIRLE: Information on Michael Hayes  Zoom on Michael Hayes  I have received the following letter from Mr. Justice O'Shaughnessy:

CENTRAL CRIMINAL COURT.

I beg to report that Sean McGuinness, member of Dáil Eireann for the constituency of Leix-Offaly, was tried before me this day on two indictments, one in which he was charged that on the 22nd April, 1924, at Ballinagar, in the County of Offaly, he assaulted, resisted, and wilfully obstructed Daniel Finucane, Sergeant, Gárda Síochána, in the due execution of his duty, and in the other of which he was charged that on the 27th April, 1924, he assaulted, resisted and wilfully obstructed Laurence O'Neill, a Peace Officer, in the due execution of his duty at Dolla, Nenagh, in the County of Tipperary. Mr. Sean McGuinness was found guilty by the jury on each indictment, and I sentenced him to be imprisoned for a term of eighteen calendar months, and to be kept to hard labour in respect of each conviction, the sentences to run concurrently.
