Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Creamery Act, 1928.—(Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Ryan).
[1487]Dr. Ryan: I propose to take the Second Stage of the Bill on Wednesday, 18th July.
Mr. Dillon:
I want to draw the attention of the Minister to the fact that I believe this House has been sitting longer this year than the Dáil ever sat before. There are now 18 Bills before us.
Mr. Dillon:
If you add them up you will find that there are 18.
Mr. Dillon:
About ten minutes before I came into the House I was looking at the list, and just as I was looking at the list someone came up and gave me another one—the Shannon Fisheries Bill. We will have between 16 and 18 Bills to be read a Second Time on the 18th July. That means that we will be sitting until November.
An Ceann Comhairle:
That question does not arise now.
Mr. Dillon:
But all these Bills are down for Second Reading on the 18th.
An Ceann Comhairle:
That is a matter that should have been raised when fixing the business for the day. The Deputy cannot originate such a discussion at this stage.
Mr. Dillon:
I am objecting to this Bill being taken on Wednesday 18th on the grounds that there are already 17 Bills down for that day.
An Ceann Comhairle:
There are not 17 Bills that the Chair is aware of.
Mr. Dillon:
If you think, Sir, they can be more appropriately discussed on another occasion, I will be glad to do so.
General Mulcahy:
When will these Bills be circulated?
Second Reading Stage fixed for Wednesday, 18th July.
