Mr. Doyle:
asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the total acreage in each county for which applications were made for licences to grow tobacco in the year 1934, and the total acreage in each county in respect of which licences were granted.
Minister for Agriculture (Dr. Ryan):
Applications for licences to grow tobacco are made to the Revenue Commissioners, whom I have consulted and who have informed me that it would not be practicable in the time available [915] to compile the figures asked for in the first part of the Deputy's question.
Licences to grow tobacco in 1934 were recommended by me and granted by the Revenue Commissioners in respect of the following acreages in the respective counties:—
