I move:—
That, towards making good the Supply granted for the Service of the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1942, the sum of £24,420,829 be granted out of the Central Fund
This is what is officially known as the Ways and Means Resolution. It is complementary to the individual Supply Resolutions which have already been agreed to by the Dáil. It is a necessary step in the process of making money available out of the Central Fund to meet the supply granted by the Dáil for the present financial year. The Central Fund Act, 1941, which was founded on a similar Ways and Means Resolution, authorised the issue out of the Central Fund, for the Service of the current year, of a sum of £12,350,000— the amount of the Vote on Account. The sum of £24,420,829, mentioned in the present Resolution, represents the balance of the amounts granted by the Dáil for the several Supply Services for the current financial year; and, when that Resolution and the Ways and Means Resolution in connection with the Excess Votes for 1939-40 in respect of Old Age Pensions and Gaeltacht Services have been agreed to, the Appropriation Bill will be introduced.
