Mr. Hughes:
asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state whether he will make arrangements to make a statement to the Dáil, immediately after the Christmas recess, as to the Government's intentions in relation to the recommendations of the Committee of Inquiry on Post-Emergency Agricultural Policy, and to give the Dáil an opportunity of discussing the Government's intentions in relation thereto.
[1676]Minister for Agriculture (Dr. Ryan):
As I informed Deputy Cogan last week, the reports of this Committee are under consideration. I cannot say when I will be in a position to make a full statement as to the Government's intentions in regard to the committee's recommendations. It is not likely that I will be able to do so as early as the Deputy suggests. I hope, however, before the reassembly after the Christmas recess to circulate, for the information of Deputies, a statement embodying comprehensive proposals in regard to dairying.
Mr. Hughes:
When does the Minister propose to give us comprehensive proposals as a whole?
Dr. Ryan:
It is hard to say. I hope to be able to do it from time to time.
Mr. Hughes:
Can the Minister give us any idea at all?
Dr. Ryan:
From time to time; the greater part of it, I am sure, next session.
