Mr. MacBride:
asked the Taoiseach what increase will be caused in the cost-of-living index by the increase in the price of butter to 3/- per lb. determined by the Government.
Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach (Donnchadh Ó Briain):
The effect of an increase of 2d. per lb. in the price of creamery butter on the Interim Cost-of-Living Index (Essential Items) is to cause an increase of 0.34 points.
Mr. O. Flanagan:
Does the Parliamentary Secretary consider that that rise is in accordance with Government policy and with the promises which were made before the election to keep down the cost of living?
[1268]An Ceann Comhairle:
That is a separate question.
Donnchadh Ó Briain:
Ceist eile.
