Mr. Davin:
asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the reason for the refusal of the Land Commission to provide small additional plots for the large number of cottage tenants living around the Kenny estate, Timakill, County Laoighis (9780), when it was divided some time ago, and whether the Land Commission promised to provide a cowpark for the people concerned; and, if so, if he will state the cause of the delay in doing so.
Mr. Derrig:
In this case there was only a limited amount of land available. In addition to five enlargements the Land Commission approved of an allotment of 20 acres to the Laoighis County Council, as trustees, for the provision of a cowpark. The county council did not intimate their willingness to accept the allotment until the latter part of this year and, at that stage, they required the purposes of the allotment to be extended. This [682] requirement has been sanctioned and the necessary documents will issue at an early date for completion by the county council. There has been no avoidable delay on the part of the Land Commission.
