Mr. McAuliffe:
asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give details of the housing needs revealed by housing surveys carried out in the urban districts of (a) Cobh, (b) Midleton, (c) Youghal, (d) Fermoy; and what plans are at present in progress or under consideration for the provision of additional housing in these areas.
Mr. Blaney:
I understand that overall assessments of the housing needs of Cobh, Midleton, Youghal and Fermoy have not yet been made although they have been started in Cobh and Youghal.
Cobh Urban District Council have 42 houses in progress.
Midleton Urban District Council have accepted a tender for the erection of 12 houses and have sites on hands for a further 32 houses.
Youghal Urban District Council have 40 houses in progress, have received [698] tenders for the erection of a further ten and have sites on hands for 40 houses.
Fermoy Urban District Council are taking steps to acquire sites for 30 houses.
