asked the Minister for Local Government the cause of the delay in advertising forty-eight specific instance cottages for tender for erection by Donegal County Council.
Arising out of the Minister's reply——
——would the Minister give the House an assurance that the manager of the Donegal County Council is permitted to advertise houses for tender, without having first to await instructions. The manager ha...
In relation to Question No. 15, 46 cottages have been tendered for and contractors have been appointed or are about to be appointed. Surely the Minister will agree that the reason for the delay in the...
Would the Minister care to reply to my last supplementary?
I have asked a supplementary——
It is not fair not to allow the Minister to reply.
asked the Minister for Local Government the cause of the delay in giving keys to tenants allocated to Raphoe new housing scheme, County Donegal.
The tenants have been appointed to these houses two and, perhaps, three months ago. Is it not a very unusual thing for houses to be completed and for the contractor to be sending an odd workman occas...
They are finished. I can see them from my bedroom window. I know more about them than the Minister. I know the Money is finished.
The reason is that the money is done.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Water and Sewerage Schemes.
asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding Malin Head and Lough Inn regional water supply; and the cause of the delay in proceeding with this scheme.
asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the Cranford water supply scheme, County Donegal.
There is no money for that, either.

Surely, at last we have caught the Minister stating an untruth. I should like to ask the Minister did he state that Donegal County Council have not applied for a loan?
I should like to point out to the House that the manager of the Donegal County Council stated at a general purposes committee meeting on Monday week that his application to the Department of Local Go...
Did Donegal County Council make application to the Department of Local Government for a sum of money to carry out this work?
Did the Minister refuse that application or did he sanction it?
I do not wish to delay the proceedings of the House but surely the Minister should be truthful?
The Minister advised Donegal County Council to apply to The Hibernian Bank in Letterkenny and the bank in Letterkenny has declined to advance £8,000 to Donegal County Council.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - FCA and Reserve Officers.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tariffs on Northern Ireland Goods.
Is the Minister aware that the rate of duty on certain agricultural implements which, up until now, were free of duty or at a very reduced rate of duty has been increased to a prohibitive point? Thi...
Agricultural implements from Northern Ireland to the Republic.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Control of Footwear Prices.
Did I understand the Minister to say that it was because of the increased cost of raw materials?
That is part of the raw materials.
A person can buy a pair of shoes in Belfast for something less than half the price of the same shoes in the City of Dublin. How can the Minister explain that? It is not raw material in that case.
It is due to racketeers in the city of Dublin. It is due to speculators in the Fianna Fáil Party.
Deputy L'Estrange is absolutely correct. Hides are making a better price in the North of Ireland.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Income.
The Minister said there would be an increase in the price of cattle but it has not happened yet.
The Minister knows as much about the price of cattle——
Committee on Finance. - Vote 39—Agriculture (Resumed).
The Deputy is challenging the ruling of the Chair.
Can the Deputy give the reference?
You said it. You know it to be completely untrue.
The Deputy is in the habit of making untrue statements.
That is completely untrue. The Deputy should give the reference to it.
But he should be asked to give the reference.
If I could understand the language the Deputy speaks, it would be an achievement.
I am only asking the Deputy to keep to the rules of the House, trying to keep him right.
Would the Deputy give the reference?
I shall give the Deputy a few references he made to the Economic War that should be very interesting to him.
What did the Deputy say about the production of beef?
The written word is a very strong thing.
Hear, hear. And he got nothing in the Budget, not a penny.
Or give them something extra in the Budget.
