Dáil Eireann Debate
Mr. Donnellan: asked the Minister for Lands the position regarding the Gibbons estate, Leitra, Glenavaddy, County Galway, and the Darmody estate, Middletown, Boyounagh, Castlerea, County Galway, which are already in the hands of the Land Commission.
Mr. B. Lenihan: The holding of Thomas Gibbons, containing 17 acres, was surrendered to the Land Commission last April in exchange for a new holding in County Meath. Possession of the 40 acre Dermody holding has not yet passed to the Land Commission but agreement on price has just recently been reached. Work on the formulation of resale proposals for both properties will be put in hands as soon as possible.
Mr. B. Lenihan: This 230 acre estate did not come into the possession of the Land Commission until last July. Pending completion of the necessary inquiries on the ground it is not possible to indicate at present when a scheme of division can be planned.
