Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Garda Station.
I have no proposal from the commissioner for the closing of Tallow Garda station.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin City Garda Station.
The new Garda station at Ballyfermot is almost complete and will be ready for occupation next week. The formal opening will take place shortly afterwards.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Overtime.
Apart from exceptional circumstances, it is the superintendent of the district concerned who has the responsibility of authorising overtime. Overtime is authorised where it is necessary for the perfor...
I think they will, particularly as they include the appointment of a chief superintendent to look into the question of overtime generally.
It is the local district officer who has to check these claims and it is only in exceptional circumstances that there is any undue delay.

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Housing.
I am not in favour of promoting a tenant purchase scheme for official houses occupied by members of the Garda Síochána. It would defeat the purpose for which official Garda houses are provided, that ...

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Court Jurisdiction.
The preliminary text of a comprehensive Courts Bill to deal, inter alia, with the civil jurisdictions of the district and circuit courts is at present under examination in my Department. While work o...
I am aware of that. That part of the Bill does not pose any difficulties but the Bill is a fairly long one and, unfortunately, some other parts of it are causing drafting difficulties. I regret that t...
It would be somewhat difficult to do that because many of the other changes are consequential on this proposal. I did think of that but it would be more satisfactory to try to do them all together.
