Mr. Bruton:
asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries how savings of £50,000 were made in 1971-72 in the provision under subhead B.4 for private agricultural colleges.
Mr. J. Gibbons:
The saving was due to the fact that work had not commenced on a proposed new extension at one of the private agricultural colleges for which provision for payment of a capital grant had been made.
Mr. Bruton:
asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries how savings of £128,000 were made in 1971-72 in the provision under subhead B.1 for universities and colleges.
Mr. J. Gibbons:
The savings in the provision under subhead B.1 for the universities is due to the fact that work on the construction of the new dairy science buildings at University College, Cork, for which provision had been made in the Estimate, had not commenced.
Mr. Bruton:
Does the Minister expect that this building will commence this year?
Mr. J. Gibbons:
I understand that the current position is that fresh plans are in the course of preparation.
