Dáil Eireann Debate
Minister for Defence (Mr. Faulkner): It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 8 (resumed), 9 (resumed), 10, 11 (resumed) and 12. Private Members' Business will be taken from 7 o'clock to 8.30 p.m., item No. 22 (resumed). There will be a postponed division at 8.30 p.m., item No. 15, Vote 28.
Mr. Horgan: On the Order of Business, I should like to give notice of my intention to raise on the Adjournment tonight the reasons for the changes in the school transport system announced by the Minister for Education.
Mr. Horgan: Could I ask for the Ceann Comhairle's guidance on this matter because, on a previous occasion when I tried to raise a slightly related matter, I was told by the Ceann Comhairle's office that I could not raise it on the Adjournment because it would cost £3½ million to restore the service to the 1979-80 levels, whereas the Minister for Education told me yesterday in the House that the motivation was not a saving in financial terms?
Mr. Harte: Has the Minister's attention been drawn to the statement this morning by the Prison Officers' Association that they have instructed their members to ban the supervision of evening recreation in all the jails because the manning of the jails is at a dangerous level?
