Miss Harney: Information on Mary Harney  Zoom on Mary Harney  asked the Minister for the Environment if he will grant the status of urban district council to the Tallaght area of county Dublin.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Raphael Burke): Information on Ray Burke  Zoom on Ray Burke  The question of appropriate local government status for Tallaght is one which would fall to be considered in the wider context of local government structures in the Dubin area generally. There is also a statutory procedure under which the local government electors of a town may apply for town commission and subsequently urban district status.
