Dáil Eireann Debate
Mr. Dukes: asked the Minister for Agriculture if he has received the consultant's report on the working of Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teoranta which was commissioned by the previous Government; and if he intends to publish the report.
Mr. Dukes: asked the Minister for Agriculture the conditions, in terms of the rationalisation of operations, he intends to attach to the granting of extra capital to Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teoranta.
Mr. Molony: asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he has considered the request of Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teoranta for additional capital investment by the State; and the plans he now has to provide more finance for that company and the steps he proposes to take to provide the sum of £5 million for special development of the sugar factory in Thurles, County Tipperary in accordance with the commitment given prior to the general election in February last.
I have received the report referred to and I hope to introduce legislation shortly to make provision for extra capital for the company. I am not yet in a position to indicate the conditions to be attached to such capital. As the report relates to a company engaged in competitive trading, it is not my intention to have it published.
