Mr. J. Bruton:
asked the Minister for Education if his Department have yet established a management advisory committee in accordance with the recommendations of the Devlin Committee which were accepted by the Government in 1969; and if not, the reason.
Minister for Education (Professor O'Donoghue):
A management advisory committee on the lines recommended by the Devlin Committee has not yet been set up in my Department.
Proposals in regard to the restructuring of the Department in accordance with the Devlin recommendations are being considered between my Department and the Department of the Public Service. A joint project team is at present engaged in the detailed review of systems and procedures with a view to having the proposed new structure established. The Management Advisory Committee would be part of this structure.
