Dáil Eireann Debate
Minister for Education (Mrs. Hussey): The Commissioners of Public Works were authorised in December last to arrange for the invitation of tenders for the proposed extension to Courtnacuddy National School, Enniscorthy, County Wexford. The chairman was so informed at that time.
Minister for Education (Mrs. Hussey): It is understood from the Commissioners of Public Works that working drawings for the proposed new national school at Curracloe, County Wexford, are nearing completion. It is further understood that an engineer's report is required before the preparation of bills of quantities may be initiated.
Minister for Education (Mrs. Hussey): The position in relation to the proposed new vocational school at Enniscorthy, County Wexford, is that my Department await acceptable outlined design proposals for the project from the County Wexford Vocational Education Committee.
In the context of the current economic situation, it will be necessary to examine carefully all proposals involving future financial commitments. During the course of 1983 a careful study will be made in regard to the needs of the situation in relation to third level education facilities and priorities established as far as possible between competing claims.
