Mr. Hilliard: Information on Colm M. Hilliard  Zoom on Colm M. Hilliard  asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the recently discovered souterrains near Donore, County Meath, could be an enormous tourist attraction and therefore should be preserved by the Office of Public Works; and the action he intends to take in this matter.

Minister for Finance (Mr. Dukes): Information on Alan M. Dukes  Zoom on Alan M. Dukes  The Commissioners of Public Works have not yet completed their investigations into this site. In the meantime they propose to include it in a list of monuments to be published in Irish Oifigiúil under section 8 of the National Monuments (Amendment) Act, 1954. This would render it unlawful for the owner to commence any work of demolition, removal, or excavation of the monument without first giving [1082] two months' notice of his intentions to the commissioners.
