Miss Harney:
asked the Minister for Education if she has received an offer of an alternative entrance to the proposed new Irish school in Rathcoole; and if she has made any decision in this regard.
[2597]Minister for Education (Mrs. Hussey):
I have received a communication which incorporates an invitation to seek details of land which is said to be available in exchange for land already purchased for the development of the proposed new all-Irish national school in Rathcoole, County Dublin.
I understand that the Deputy was present at a recent meeting called with the object of clarifying the position with regard to the development of the national school in question, in the course of which it was indicated that a significant outlay had already occurred in the acquisition of the site for the development and of the access route thereto, apart altogether from the professional and other attendant expenses, and that while it was open to any interested party to propose alternatives, such proposal would have, among other things, to offer not alone equality of exchange, but also reimbursement of all associated expenses to date. The communication referred to does not meet these stipulations. My office will be replying in appropriate terms to the writer.
