Mr. J. Leonard:
asked the Minister for the Environment if in future allocations of funds under the housing aid for the elderly scheme operated by the health boards special consideration will be given to the provision of water and sewerage facilities.
Minister for the Environment (Mr. Kavanagh):
The allocation of funds to health boards to operate the scheme of special housing aid for the elderly is a matter for the task force set up, under the aegis of my Department, to administer the scheme. While general guidelines have been circulated to the health boards, [2815] it is the practice to leave it to the discretion of the boards to determine in individual cases which works, including the provision of water or sewerage facilities, should be carried out.
