65.

Mr. Durkan: Information on Bernard Durkan  Zoom on Bernard Durkan  asked the Minister for Education the current position with regard to the provision of an extension to St. Farnan's post-primary school at Prosperous, County Kildare; whether it will be possible to proceed with the extension in the coming year; the number of stages in the planning process still remaining before the project goes to tender; and the difficulties, if any, which [1442] have arisen in relation to the provision of this much sought-after extension.

Minister for Education (Mrs. Hussey): Information on Gemma Hussey  Zoom on Gemma Hussey  The bills of quantities in respect of the proposed extension to Prosperous vocational school have been examined in my Department. A meeting between the vocational education committee, its design team, and my Department's officials to discuss necessary revisions in this documentation will be held shortly.

When the problems relating to the bills of quantities have been adjusted the question of allowing the project to go to tender will arise. This question will be considered in the context of available capital and the extent of the Department's commitments. Pending completion of this process I am not in a position to say when it will be possible to proceed with the extension. No undue difficulties arose in the planning of the project.
