Dr. O'Hanlon:
asked the Minister for Health the extra allocation made to each health board since 1 February 1986.
Minister for Health (Mr. B. Desmond):
Annual allocations approved for health boards are subject to adjustment in the course of the year to take account of additional approved expenditure not provided for in the original allocations such as those related to approved pay awards, increased rates of cash allowances, etc. In the current year adjustments will in certain cases arise in relation to arrangements to cope with excess unapproved expenditures in earlier years and other situations. The nature and extent of the adjustments will be decided following detailed discussions with individual health boards. The precise level of final allocation for each health board will not emerge until later on in the year.
I consider that it would be misleading to provide information on the line requested by the Deputy on a piecemeal [111] basis. I will, however, inform the Deputy at the appropriate time of the final 1986 allocation for each health board when this process is completed.
