Miss Harney:
asked the Minister for Labour the number of people employed under the social employment scheme in April 1986.
Minister for Labour (Mr. Quinn):
On 25 April, 1986 there were 2,125 social employment scheme projects in operation employing a total of 8,515 participants.
Miss Harney:
asked the Minister for Labour the number of people employed under the social employment scheme in March 1986.
Minister for Labour (Mr. Quinn):
On 27 March 1986 there were 1,981 social employment scheme projects in operation employing a total of 7,475 participants.
Miss Harney:
asked the Minister for Labour the number of people employed under the social employment scheme in March 1986 in the following areas: (a) Dublin city; (b) Dublin county; (c) Leinster; (d) Munster; (e) Ulster; and (f) Connacht.

Statistics relating to the social employment scheme are currently compiled on the basis of National Manpower Service regions. The regional breakdown of participation rates on 27 March 1986 was as follows:
