Mr. O'Brien:
asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Government intend to grant visas to Libyan students; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Lenihan):
The Deputy will be aware of certain measures which continue in force with regard to the provision of training programmes in Ireland for Libyan students. There is of course no general prohibition on Libyans wishing to come to this country subject to compliance with the usual visa and immigration procedures. It [1887] would be inappropriate for me to comment on individual applications for visas.
