Mr. Naughten: Information on Liam Anthony Naughten  Zoom on Liam Anthony Naughten  asked the Minister for Education if she will give details of the grants available to outstanding sports persons under the second allocation of grant aid for the current year; and the number of applications received in her Department from each national governing body of sport in respect of same.

Minister for Education (Mrs. O'Rourke): Information on Mary O'Rourke  Zoom on Mary O'Rourke  Details regarding the 1988 scheme of grants to outstanding sportssperson are set out in the attached Guideline Booklet, (Appendix 1). Grants to the sum of £64,800 were allocated under the second allocation of this scheme.

Details regarding (a) the number of applications received from each national governing body and (b) the grantees classified by sport and amount of grant-aid allocated are set out in the table hereunder and in the attached press release, (Appendix 2).
