Mr. Durkan: Information on Bernard Durkan  Zoom on Bernard Durkan  asked the Minister for Finance if a rebate of DIRT tax will be made in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Finance (Mr. Reynolds): Information on Albert Reynolds  Zoom on Albert Reynolds  The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that no formal claim for a refund of the deposit interest retention tax has been received from the taxpayer for 1988-89. In the circumstances, the appropriate claim form will now be issued [70] to the taxpayer. On receipt of the completed form, together with the relevant certificates of interest paid, his entitlement to a refund of tax deducted will be considered.

A cheque in settlement of the refund due for 1987-88 was issued to the taxpayer on 14 December 1988.

Mr. E. O'Keeffe: Information on Ned O'Keeffe  Zoom on Ned O'Keeffe  asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

Minister for Finance (Mr. Reynolds): Information on Albert Reynolds  Zoom on Albert Reynolds  The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the taxpayer's liability for the year 1988-89 has been reviewed and that a cheque in settlement of the refund due was issued to the taxpayer on 20 April 1989.

Mr. Cowen: Information on Brian Cowen  Zoom on Brian Cowen  asked the Minister for Finance if he will arrange for the payment of a tax rebate to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

Minister for Finance (Mr. Reynolds): Information on Albert Reynolds  Zoom on Albert Reynolds  The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that a cheque in settlement of the refund due to the taxpayer, in respect of the year 1988-89 will be issued shortly.
