  73.  Mr. Barry  Information on Peter Barry  Zoom on Peter Barry   asked the Minister for Justice  Information on Ray Burke  Zoom on Ray Burke   the amount of money available to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal for (a) 1989 and (b) 1990.

Minister for Justice (Mr. Burke): Information on Ray Burke  Zoom on Ray Burke  Two million pounds was provided in the Estimates in each of the years 1989 and 1990 for the payment of compensation awarded by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal. In 1989, saving on other subheads in the Vote for the Office of the Minister for Justice enabled an additional £340,000, approximately, to be made available to the tribunal.
