Mr. Nealon
asked the
Minister for the Environment
the number of occupied houses in County Sligo that are without piped or running water; and the percentage this is of the entire housing stock in the county.
Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. Connolly):
The latest figures available are from the 1981 Census of Population; at that stage there were 2,132 houses without a piped water supply in County Sligo representing 14 per cent of the housing stock in the county. In the intervening period, that percentage would have reduced appreciably due to the building of new houses, the installation of a water supply in existing houses and obsolesence.

Mr. Nealon
asked the
Minister for the Environment
when work will commence on the provision of baths in the houses at St. John's Terrace, Sligo, as sanctioned by his Department in 1987.
Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. Connolly):
Revised documentation, which was recently submitted by Sligo Corporation in connection with the refurbishment of this estate, is being examined in the Department and a decision will be conveyed to the local authority as soon as possible.
