Mr. Howlin
asked the
Minister for the Environment
when the last detailed survey of housing conditions was undertaken in Ireland; and when it is proposed to undertake the next such survey.
Minister for the Environment (Mr. Flynn):
A survey of housing conditions, involving the inspection of a scientifically selected sample of approximately 30,000 dwellings, has now been completed by virtually all local authorities. The results of the survey will be an important input to the estimates of total housing requirements up to June 1993, which local authorities are now in the process of making for their areas. No consideration has yet been given to the date of the next such survey.
