13.
Mr. J. Bruton
asked the
Taoiseach
if he will issue any necessary advice to Ministers and Ministers of State as to whether they should be candidates in the forthcoming local elections.
The Taoiseach:
Ministers and Ministers of State have already been informed and are well aware of the general principle which applies regarding membership of [530] local authorities. In the circumstances, I do not propose to issue any special instructions.
Mr. J. Bruton:
Will any, all or some of the many Ministers of State who still sit on local authorities be presenting themselves as candidates in the June local elections?
The Taoiseach:
I have a very strong view that none of them will.
