  54.  Mr. Finucane  Information on Michael Finucane  Zoom on Michael Finucane   asked the Minister for the Environment  Information on Michael Smith  Zoom on Michael Smith   if he will outline the current status of a group water scheme (details supplied) in County Limerick as the delay in processing this grant is causing water shortages with the existing scheme being inadequate; if he will further outline (a) the estimated cost of providing the improved scheme, (b) the estimated value of the group water scheme grants available, (c) the special contributions which are available to the scheme and (d) the estimated contribution which is required from the group water scheme members; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Smith): Information on Michael Smith  Zoom on Michael Smith  Limerick County Council approved the design for improvement works on this scheme subject to the upsizing of mains and the provision of additional storage capacity to cater for future development in the area. The estimated cost inclusive of county council requirements is £68,482. Group water scheme grants are estimated at £27,600. No decision has been taken regarding a special contribution nor on the balance to be met by the members of the group.

Having regard to the existing level of commitments under the group water [129] scheme programme, I am not in a position to indicate when there will be a decision on this scheme.
