asked the
Minister for Foreign Affairs
if he will outline (1) the number of special policy advisers in his and his Minister of State's Departments and (2) their respective area of expertise.
Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Andrews):
A special adviser has been appointed in both the private offices of the Minister and of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs to provide assistance and advice in all matters relating to their official functions. The appointment in the office of the Minister is on a part-time consultancy basis; the appointment in the office of the Minister of State is on a fulltime basis.
