  120.  Mr. Creed  Information on Michael Creed  Zoom on Michael Creed   asked the Minister for Social Welfare  Information on Prionsias De Rossa  Zoom on Prionsias De Rossa   the amount of money paid by self-employed people, including farmers, under the PRSI social insurance scheme since 1988. [2290/95]

Minister for Social Welfare (Proinsias De Rossa): Information on Prionsias De Rossa  Zoom on Prionsias De Rossa  PRSI for the self-employed was introduced with effect from 6 April 1988. The social insurance element of the PRSI rate was set at 3 per cent for the 1988-89 tax year, at 4 per cent for the 1989-90 tax year and at 5 per cent for the 1990-91 and subsequent tax years. The amount paid into the Social Insurance Fund by self-employed people, including farmers, for the years 1988 to 1994 is set out hereunder.
