[3741/95]

Minister for Defence (Mr. Coveney): Information on Hugh Coveney  Zoom on Hugh Coveney  The Department of Defence has made [1027] a major commitment to the development of the strategic management initiative. In accordance with the guidelines laid down for the initiative, a statement of strategy was drawn up and submitted to the Department of the Taoiseach by the appointed time. The statement has been reviewed by the coordinating group of secretaries and it is now being developed further in the Department. Specifically as regards the Defence Forces, the Efficiency Audit Group has carried out a comprehensive review of the forces. When the report of the group has been considered by the Government and conclusions arrived at, common strategic management decisions will be implemented.
