  85.  Mr. Lawlor  Information on Liam Lawlor  Zoom on Liam Lawlor   asked the Minister for Education  Information on Niamh Bhreathnach  Zoom on Niamh Bhreathnach   if she will reverse her Department's decision on the teaching staff complement at a primary school (details supplied) in Dublin 22; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7033/95]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): Information on Niamh Bhreathnach  Zoom on Niamh Bhreathnach  The staffing of a national school is determined by the enrolment on 30 September of the previous year.

The enrolment of the school in question on 30 September 1994 was 293 which warrants a staffing of principal plus nine assistants for the 1995-96 school year. The school currently has a staff of principal plus ten assistants. The enrolment required for the retention of the tenth assistant from 1 September 1995 is 295.

[1341] However, I am having the matter re-examined in my Department. The Deputy will be informed of the outcome at an early date.
