The Taoiseach:
It is proposed to take No. 12, statements on the Northern Ireland peace process. It is also proposed, notwithstanding the order of the Dáil of 13 February 1996, that the proceedings on No. 12, if not previously concluded, shall be brought to a conclusion at 4.45 p.m. tomorrow.
An Ceann Comhairle:
Is the proposal for dealing with No. 12 satisfactory? Agreed.
Mr. B. Ahern:
The Government has agreed to our proposal for a third day for this debate. This is appropriate as otherwise the contributions of the 35 speakers from this side of the House would have been limited to five minutes.
Does the proposal in a Programme for Renewal require the Government to legislate for the establishment of a waterways authority?
The Taoiseach:
I will make inquiries and then contact the Deputy about that matter. As the House is aware, it is possible for bodies of this nature to be established non-statutorily.
[1210]Mr. N. Treacy:
Did the Taoiseach take a recent decision on it?
