  103.  Mr. Callely  Information on Ivor Callely  Zoom on Ivor Callely   asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry  Information on Ivan Yates  Zoom on Ivan Yates   if he will give details of the Bord Bia 1995 programme of market research and provision of financial incentives to the food trade to enhance their marketing and innovation functions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4722/96]

Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Mr. Yates): Information on Ivan Yates  Zoom on Ivan Yates  An Bord Bia was established in December 1994 and published its Market Development Strategy in June 1995. This is a five year strategy, covering the period 1995-99, the overall aim of which is to increase the sales and exports of the food industry, in line with the National Development Strategy for the Food Industry which I launched early last year. The activities being undertaken by the board in the implementation of that strategy include two company grant schemes, details of which are set out in the strategy document, and the carrying out of market research as and when required.

Under An Bord Bia Act, 1994, the commissioning of such research [1118] and the administration of the company grant schemes are part of the board's day to day activities and are therefore matters in relation to which I have no function.
