Minister for Justice
the progress, if any, that has been made by the working group to examine incidents of assaults, robberies, larcenies and damage to Dublin Bus drivers; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Justice (Mrs. Owen):
The working group established by me in November 1995 to consider the problem of assaults on bus drivers and other related matters has concluded its work and completed a report. It contains a number of recommendations on practical measures that can be taken to reduce such incidents and also identifies longer-term policy and legislative measures that might be considered in addressing the problem. I am, at present, reviewing the report.
