72.
Ms F. Fitzgerald
asked the
Minister for Education
her views on whether a new code of practice needs to be developed in relation to indoor pop concerts; and the plans, if any, she has to develop such a code of practice.
[11291/96]
Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach):
The holding of indoor pop concerts is governed by a number of legislative provisions under the Departments of Justice, Health and the Environment. The question of the need for a code of practice for safety at indoor pop concerts would be a matter for consideration by those Departments in the first place.

Ms F. Fitzgerald
asked the
Minister for Education
whether she has received details of the outcome of the four inquiries into the events at the Point Depot on 11 May 1996; if so, the findings of these inquiries; and the recommendations, if any, which have been made in this regard.
[11292/96]
[815]Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach):
The Department of Education is not involved in the inquiries into the events at the Point Depot on 11 May 1996. Safety at indoor concerts is governed by a number of legislative provisions under the Departments of Justice, Health and the Environment. It is assumed the agencies carrying out the inquiries referred to will present their reports to the Departments concerned.
