A decision regarding the timing of the tender process will be made in the light of other priority projects and available financial resources.

Mr. Molloy
asked the
Minister for Education
the current position in relation to an application made four years ago by the Board of Management of a school (details supplied) in County Galway for a permanent room for this school; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
[12297/96]
Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach):
The school to which the Deputy refers applied for grant-aid towards additional temporary accommodation over three years ago. My Department wrote to the school on 8 July 1993, refusing this application because projected enrolments at the time indicated the requirement for the additional accommodation would be of a short-term nature.
The school authorities subsequently purchased prefabricated accommodation without prior approval from the Department and a retrospective application to grant-aid its installation is under consideration.
On 15 May 1996, my Department received a request for a permanent extension at this school. The school's long-term accommodation requirements are now being assessed and my Department will be in touch with the school authorities. [1917]
