11.
Mr. J. Bruton
asked the
Taoiseach
the status and role of a person (details supplied) in his Department.
[14673/97]
The Taoiseach:
The status of the person in question is that of programme manager and special adviser to the Taoiseach. His role is very similar to that of his predecessor but he concentrates more on the administrative, financial and economic areas.
Mr. J. Bruton:
Do his responsibilities extend, as reported in the newspapers, to canvassing Fianna Fáil Deputies in regard to the presidential candidacy?
The Taoiseach:
They certainly do not and he certainly did not.
Mr. Yates:
Did the Taoiseach vote the wrong way?
The Taoiseach:
At least we had a vote.
Mr. Barrett:
We did not show our ballot papers to one another.
The Taoiseach:
The Deputy's party would not give us the result. However, I heard there was only one vote in it.
Mr. J. Bruton:
There is always only one.
