Minister for Agriculture and Food (Joe Walsh):
I propose to take Questions Nos. 209 and 210 together.
Article 4 (h) of Council Regulation (EEC) N.2066/92 states that a producer must have a stocking density of less than 1.4 livestock units in order to qualify for extensification premium. Male animals up to and including 24 months are each classified as 0.6 of a livestock unit.
The stocking density of the holding of the person named was calculated for 1997 as follows:
The forage area declared on his 1997 area aid application was 38.44 Hectares. Therefore the stocking density of the holding of the person named was 58.11 Lus divided by 38.44 Hectares which equals 1.51 Lus-Hectare. As this is not less than 1.40 Lus-Ha, as set out in the regulation, he does not qualify for 1997 extensification premium.
With regard to the 1998 area aid application of the person named, difficulties have arisen in the processing of this application and he has been informed of them. When these have been [1402] resolved, any payments due will issue as soon as possible.
