  374.  Mr. Kenny  Information on Enda Kenny  Zoom on Enda Kenny   asked the Minister for Education and Science  Information on Micheál Martin  Zoom on Micheál Martin   if he has received a submission in respect of the pupilteacher ratio problem at Scoil Damhnait, Achill Sound, County Mayo, which has now an enrolment of 127 students and seven teachers; the consideration, if any, he has given for a reduction in the pupil teacher-ratio; and if he will make a statement on the matter. School authorities may apply for an increase in the approved teacher allocation to cater for particular circumstances.

Following consideration of such an application from the authorities of Scoil Damhnait, my Department approved an increase in the teacher allocation for the school for the 1998-99 school year.
