82.
Mr. N. Ahern
asked the
Taoiseach
the number of appointments of manual grade operatives, for example, service officers, attendants, cleaners or other general category of this nature in his Department, or agencies under his Department's direct control, during the past four years; the number who applied for these positions; the number interviewed for each position; and the salary levels for these jobs.
[26612/99]
The Taoiseach:
During the past four years there have been seven appointments in the categories to which the Deputy refers. With regard to the grades of service officer and service attendant, these may be filled either externally or internally through promotion as vacancies arise. Therefore, in addition to the details of appointments set out in the following schedule, there were five promotions within the timeframe specified, namely: three promotions from service attendant to service officer, one promotion from cleaner to service attendant and one promotion from cleaner to service officer.
In respect of the bodies under the aegis of my Department, I have no direct function in respect of such appointments.
