Mr. Kenny
asked the
Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands
if she will give details of the feasibility study, if any, being carried out by her Department and Mayo County Council in regard to an access pier for Clare Island on the mainland; when the feasibility study will be concluded and an amount allocated for this work.
[2957/00]
Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands (Éamon Ó Cuív):
Mayo County Council recently appointed the consultants, Malachy Walsh and Partners, to carry out a feasibility study on the provision of marine landing facilities on the mainland to serve Clare Island and to bring the project to preliminary report stage. It is hoped to have this study completed within the next six months.
No application has been received from Mayo County Council for funding for this study. However, if one was received, I would be willing to look favourably on same.
