388. Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science when a person (details supplied) in County Kildare will be given special needs assistance to permit her enter the mainstream education system; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29241/00]
Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods): An application for special needs assistant support has been received by my Department and is currently being investigated by my Department's inspectorate. When this investigation is complete, officials in my Department will be in touch with the school authorities.
389. Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Education and Science when a decision will be made in respect of an application by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 for a special needs assistant. [29284/00]
Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods): I understand that the person referred to by the Deputy was employed as a special needs assistant at the school in question in the last school year, to assist two special needs pupils enrolled in the school at that time. Both pupils left the school in June 2000.
