Mr. Bradford
asked the
Minister for Education and Science
the position concerning the proposed new school to replace St. Mary's Secondary School, Mallow, County Cork; the reasons for the delay in having the project progressed; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that much of the local contributions collected towards the costs of the new school are being spent on repairing the present building which will be demolished once the new school is built; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
[29285/00]
Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods):
My Department's planning and building unit is currently assessing the revised stage 4 submission, detailed design, for the proposed new school at St. Mary's, Mallow, County Cork. It is expected that this assessment will be completed soon. The architectural planning of this school has been delayed due to the need to have the stage 4 submission revised to incorporate amendments sought by my Department.
