Mr. Kirk
asked the
Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development
if he will outline overtime payment arrangements for his staff during the current foot and mouth crisis; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
[8957/01]
Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (Mr. Walsh):
Standard Civil Service overtime arrangements are applied to staff in clerical and administrative grades who have conditioned hours.
The rates are applied as follows: first three hours per week @ time+¼; next five hours per week @ time+½; hours in excess of eight per week @ double time; Saturday mornings @ time+½, if no overtime is worked in the preceding week; and Saturday p.m. @ double time. However, if overtime is worked in the preceding week double time is paid for all day Saturday; Sundays @ double time.
