the revenue which has accrued from off-course betting tax in each of the past three years.

The information requested by the Deputy is as follows:

| 1998 | £52.14 million (66.2 million) |
| 1999 | £53.4 million (67.8 million) |
| 2000 | £46.36 million (58.9 million) |
| 2001 (9 months to end Sept.) | £41.1 million (52.2 million) |
The betting duty was reduced from 10% to 5% with effect from 1 July 1999.
