Mr. G. Mitchell
asked the
Minister for Health and Children
if his attention has been drawn to the poor state of St. John's Hospital, Enniscorthy, County Wexford; and if he is taking steps to remedy the situation.
[25571/01]
Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Martin):
The provision of health services in County Wexford is the responsibility of the South-Eastern Health Board. Under the National Development Plan 2001-2006, the South-Eastern Health Board was advised of indicative funding of £14.801 million for capital investment in the development of services for older people. It is a matter for the board to decide its priority development projects [1702] within the National Development Plan 2001-2006. In this context the board has informed the Department that it has provided for the replacement of St. John's Hospital, Enniscorthy in its list of projects. A project team and a design team have been appointed and a development control plan has been submitted to my Department. This plan is being actively considered and a decision will be made shortly on the matter.
